ALONG the WAY: UPDATES from WAY STATION

September 9:

As part of the newsletter, we will be asking each volunteer about their reasons for volunteering week after week and what it means to them. When asked about his experience at the Way Station, Jon answered, "I am glad to give back to the community, through an organization that has helped me immeasurably."

If you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities,  we are always welcoming new folks and you would be welcomed with open arms and smiling faces. We are also looking for “on-call” volunteers for “emergent crisis” throughout the week.  If you would be interested in being an on-call volunteer, please contact Dan at the Way Station.

A BIG thank you!

The Way Station has been so fortunate and blessed to have an amazing group of volunteers on a week-to-week basis. We have had great volunteer reactions to our expanding hours and services. The new volunteers have been so patient as we develop and move into the expansion. Thank you so very much! Allons Y!

Weekly news and highlights

We would like to take a moment and say thank you to those who have donated over the previous week. This week we received donations of water, towels, and tents, in addition to approximately $250 cash donations. We cannot do this without all of your help.

As many of you may have noticed, this previous week, unlike the one before, has been considerably damp. Many of the folk’s we serve are living in tents and cars. If you have ever experienced camping in the rain, then you are also aware that very seldom does everything stay dry. As we move into the next couple weeks, we are asking that, if you are able, please consider donating laundry cards, as we have limited resources and our facilities cannot handle large loads.

In case you missed it. The Way Station was recently featured in a story by Casey McDermott on New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR). It provides great insight as to what the Way Station does for the members of our community that needs help. Here is the link to the story, NHPR Way Station à Here ß

The Way Station has also made the decision to add Venmo to our list of how people can donate to the Way Station. The official Way Station Venmo is @Way-Station,remember when using Venmo you will need the last 4-digits of our phone number, 7113. As always, donations can also be made on our website, Way Station, or you can still drop it off to us or mail it to PO Box 1888 North Conway NH 03860.

Boxes of Love, (BOL) and White Horse Recovery will be teaming up to bring a Day of Caring event to North Conway on July 17th. Please check out their website, BOL or the attached flyer for more info.

The Way Station is now open, by appointment only, on Mondays 10-2 and Thursdays 10-1.

We are always looking for committed volunteers to help us throughout the week. The Way Station provides an amazing opportunity to work with amazing people.

A BIG thank you!

We are so grateful for all of the support from our volunteers and community! We wouldn’t be able to provide the services we do without everyone’s support. We are lucky to have this opportunity to give back and support each other! Thank you!

Weekly news and highlights

As the summer days are upon us, I would like to remind everyone that the heat index is going to be soaring. It is important to remain hydrated and use sunblock.

As a reminder, providing material and financial resources are only some of the services that the Way Station provides. In addition to the limited laundry, fuel, phone cards, food, and supplies for camping, etc. we also offer a compassionate and non-judgmental ear for those needing one. Our presence for folk’s who are struggling is sometimes more welcomed than the provisions we supply. Sometimes a warm heart and smile fills the spirit more than a meal fills the belly.

We are now opening the Way Station, by appointment only, on Mondays 10-2 and Thursdays 10-1.

A BIG thank you!

As always, we would like to shout out to all the volunteers who show up week to week to make sure all of our clients receive the resources that are so vital for them. We could not, would not be able to do what we do and reach who we reach without all of you! Thank you!

Weekly news and highlights

NH Gives was a success! Through the generosity of all of you who donated, along with some matching funds from NH Gives, the Way Station was able to raise $7,865 through the NH Gives drive. Though this is a significant amount, we are still asking for contributions to assist in the week-to-week cost of providing resources to the vulnerable populations we serve.

In an effort to conserve resources, and as our weekly expenses considerable for the resources, the Way Station has had to make the difficult decision to begin paring down some of the resources we are able to provide. We will be reducing the frequency of gas cards to bi-weekly and monthly, based on circumstances and we are beginning to open the Way Station for laundry to conserve the expense of laundry cards. The Way Station will be open by appointment only, Monday’s 10-2 and Thursdays 10-1.

The Way Station is committed to providing the vital resources that people need, but also understands the necessity of prudence to insure that we can continue providing resource in the future.
